Pastor Anthony talks about NOT resisting the Spirit and the call on your life.

Mark 3:22-30
And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.” And he called them to him and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end. But no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. Then indeed he may plunder his house. “Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin” — for they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”

Matthew 12:22-29
Then a demon-oppressed man who was blind and mute was brought to him, and he healed him, so that the man spoke and saw. And all the people were amazed, and said, “Can this be the Son of David?” But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, “It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this man casts out demons.” Knowing their thoughts, he said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand. And if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. Or how can someone enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? Then indeed he may plunder his house.

1 John 3:8
Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.

Matthew 12:30-32
Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

Luke 12:10
And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

Mark 3:30
for they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”

Small Group Questions

Read Mark 3:22-30 (we didn’t read it all in the service)

Were there times before you were a Christian (if you are), that you can remember resisting the Holy Spirit’s call on your life? Explain.

What happened that finally led you to submit to the call of the Spirit, and put your faith in Christ?

Is there anyone in your life who is persistently and unrepenttantly blaspheming (resizing) the Holy Spirit and the work of Christ? Is there anything the Spirit is leading you to do for/with them?

As a Christian (if you are), what are some things you do resist (or have resisted) of the Spirit in your life around you? Has God changed your perspective or your heart? If not, what do you need to do to yield to Him?

You Can Give
We put our treasure, that’s where our heart will follow (Matthew 6:21). When we invest our money into the Kingdom of God, our heart will follow. If our treasure is not being stored in God’s Kingdom, our hearts may miss it all together (Matthew 6:19-20). Because of this, where we spend our money is a direct reflection of our heart and its attitude towards God and His Kingdom
