Pastor Anthony opens up our new sermon series on life and death, and the power of the tongue.
Proverbs 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.Proverbs 16:24
Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.Proverbs 17:22
A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.Ephesians 4:29
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.Matthew 12:34
You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.James 1:19
Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;James 3:6-10
And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.James 3:11-12
Does a spring pour forth from the same opening both fresh and salt water? Can a fig tree, my brothers, bear olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a salt pond yield fresh water.Matthew 12:36-37
I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.
