Pastor Anthony concludes our Trojan Horses series.
Series Recap
In Christ we are free from Satan, demons, our ancestors, our past, condemnation, and free from fear. So remember who Christ is, what He’s done, what He has victory over, what He offers, and who you are in Him- Remind the enemy and yourself of these things. Move forward offensively with The Church as a crucial line of defense. Walk in confidence. And stand and fight- resisting the devil, casting out demons, and avoiding superstitious pitfalls of the religious and hyper-spiritual. Use the Word of God as your weapon of this war, and put on the Full Armor of God as you go through this Spiritual Battle we call life.
A Crucial Line of Defense Is Being On The Offense
Matthew 16:16-18
Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Demon Possession Is Real
-Demon possession is when someone is under the control of a demon. [e.g. Lk 8:26-39]
-Or in rare occurrences, Satan himself. [Lk 22:3]
-It is literally when a demon inhabits or possesses you. [Matt 12:42-45]
A Christian Cannot Be Possessed- Period!
Matthew 12:43-45
“When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none. Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order. Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this evil generation.”
Mark 3:25
And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.
Romans 8:38-39
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
2 Corinthians 6:15
What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever?
-Christians belong to Jesus [Jn 10:28] and are new creations [2 Cor 5:17] inhabited by the Holy Spirit [1 Cor 6:19].
-Greater is the Spirit who is in them than he who is in the world [1 John 4:4]
Jesus Cast Out Demons & Gave Authority For His Followers To Do Likewise
[Mk 16:18; Lk 10:19]
Matthew 10:1-8
And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction. The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them, “Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay.
In Order To Cast Out A Demon-
-You must be a Christian [Acts 19:13-15]
-You need to be walking close to Christ and be strong in your faith [Eph 6:10-20]
-You need to have faith in God that the demon can be cast out in His power, and faith in yourself that you have authority and power in Christ to do so. [Matt 17:14-20]
-Some demons require more faith than others to be cast out, and such faith is built up with prayer, and possibly fasting. [Mk 9:29]
When casting out a demon, we are to command it to leave in the “Name of Jesus”
[Mk 16:16-18; Lk 10:17; Phil 2:10]
Acts 16:18
And this she kept doing for many days. Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And it came out that very hour.
The Goal In Dealing With Anyone Who May Be Possessed Is Not To Make Them “Unpossessed,” But To Introduce Them To Jesus, So That Possession Will Not Be Possible.
Demonic Oppression
-The term “Demonic Oppression” still implies that someone (a Christian) is under the control of a demon, and Christians just can’t be under the control of a demon.
-A more clear definition of this idea that we’re speaking of though, when we speak of “demonic oppression,” is being spiritually attacked, demonically influenced, or in spiritual warfare.
So when spiritual attack comes your way…
-Stand your ground and fight. [Eph 6:13]
-Employ what we learned last week.
-And like with demonic possession, you can command the enemy to leave in Jesus Name. [Lk 10:17; Phil 2:10]
Philippians 4:8-9
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
Galatians 1:8
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.
2 Corinthians 11:14
And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
-Don’t Go Demon Hunting-
-Don’t Talk To Demons-
Luke 4:35
But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him down in their midst, he came out of him, having done him no harm.
John 8:44
You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
-Don’t channel demons through you-
Deuteronomy 18:9-12
“When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.
-Be careful of the people you trust and allow to influence your life-
1 John 4:1
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
-Don’t allow yourself to be out of control-
Ephesians 5:18
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit.
-Beware of generational curses and blame placing-
Exodus 34:7
keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.”
Deuteronomy 5:9
You shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
Ezekiel 18:20
The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.
Exodus 34:7
keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.
[Lev 26:40-42]
John 9:1-12
As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him. We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” Having said these things, he spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he anointed the man’s eyes with the mud and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means Sent). So he went and washed and came back seeing. The neighbors and those who had seen him before as a beggar were saying, “Is this not the man who used to sit and beg?” Some said, “It is he.” Others said, “No, but he is like him.” He kept saying, “I am the man.” So they said to him, “Then how were your eyes opened?” He answered, “The man called Jesus made mud and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed and received my sight.” They said to him, “Where is he?” He said, “I do not know.”

Ephesians 6:10-20
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.
